While the Ford F-150 Raptor is a sub-model of the Ford F-150, the truth is these trucks share nothing more than a name. The off-road, trophy-truck style Raptor is the F-150 on steroids, and its one of the most impressive new Ford models available at our Baytown dealership.

Performance Differences of the Ford Raptor vs F-150

Performance is really where these two trucks separate, and the Raptor has several upgrades that make it feel as much like a muscle car as a practical pickup. For one, the Raptor comes with a 3.5-liter high-output EcoBoost six-cylinder engine. This package delivers 450 horsepower and 510 pound-feet of torque through a 10-speed automatic transmission.

Furthermore, the Raptor has a lifted suspension setup with 13 inches of ground clearance up front and 13.9 inches out back. The heavy duty shocks are capable of harsh jumps and landings, and built-in skidplates protect the underbody from damage.

Meanwhile, the standard F-150 is available with both gas and diesel powered engines, but none approach the performance of the Raptor. However, the PowerStroke diesel does offer 11,500 pounds of towing capacity – something that the Raptor can't touch.

In addition, the 2023 Ford F-150 now offers a PowerBoost hybrid drive system. This setup offers a max output of 430 horsepower and 570 pound-feet of torque, and is good for up to 24 mpg both in the city and on the highway. Even better, the PowerBoost F-150s can tow up to 12,400 pounds, and the electric motors provide plenty of low-end torque to get things moving.
