The All-New 2020
Ford Explorer

The Redesigned Three-Row SUV is Ready for Adventure

One reason that the Explorer has remained a standard-bearer in the SUV category is the fact that Ford has never been shy about adding features and improvements. Case in point? The 2020 Explorer, the all-new sixth generation of the venerable model that helped fuel America's passion for capable, versatile family haulers. From a rear-wheel drive set up to new trim levels and an even-more-powerful engine lineup, the Ford Explorer continues to set benchmarks other models can only hope to match. Style & Design

This updated Explorer sits on a longer wheelbase and features a shorter front overhang, helping to improve balance and handling. Even though the wheelbase is longer, the SUV is approximately the same length as the previous generation model -- so you needn't worry about having outgrown your garage or parking spaces.

There are three rows of seating inside the SUV, with ample space for seven people in the standard configuration. Opting to replace the second-row bench seats with captain's chairs reduces seating capacity to six, but increases the ease of entry and exit for third-row riders. A Cargo Management System helps make sense of your family's gear, which is useful when dashing from school to practice.

Comfort & Technology

Today's SUVs need the up-to-date technologies that keep everyone entertained, so the all-new 2020 Explorer features the SYNC® infotainment system, Apple CarPlay™ and Android Auto™ smartphone integration, FordPass Connect™ 4G LTE Wi-Fi hotspot hosting for up to 10 devices, and the FordPass app that allows you to access vehicle data through your smartphone.

The Ford Co-Pilot360™ suite of safety and driver-assistance technologies comes standard on every 2020 Ford Explorer, adding to your sense of driving confidence. Whether you choose an XLT, Limited, ST, or Platinum model, you know that you and yours are protected by Forward Collision Warning with Pedestrian Detection, Lane Keep Assist, and more.

Performance

The available engines range from a standard 2.3-liter turbocharged EcoBoost® four-cylinder engine all the way up to a 400-horsepower 3.0-liter V6 engine that's offered on the new ST trim level. If you're looking for the latest in engine technology, a hybrid powertrain is also available, pairing a gas engine with an electric motor to generate the efficiency you want.
